Tim McElgunn is a seasoned telecom analyst with 23 years of experience researching, synthesizing and communicating industry, tech and service trends and providing strategic guidance to firms of all sizes. Areas of expertise include residential and small business broadband, cable WiFi and emerging wireless strategies, and the nexus of telecom regulation and company strategy.
In addition to producing syndicated research and analysis, Mr. McElgunn has completed custom research projects and presented speeches, seminars, and executive briefings to clients, industry panels, and professional groups. He is an effective moderator of panel discussions.
Client companies (and their predecessors/successors) include AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and myriad competitive operators; international telcos including NTT, BT, and Embratel; cable operators including Charter, Cox, and Time Warner Cable; technology suppliers including Alcatel, Microsoft, Nokia, Unisys and many more; and industry organizations including CTAM, SCTE, and USTelecom. Most recently, Mr. McElgunn was Managing Editor of Bloomberg BNA's Bloomberg Law NOW: Tech and Telecom and Broadband Daily news services, after leading the company's Broadband Advisory Services strategic analysis and advisory product as Chief Analyst for 8 years.
Before joining Bloomberg BNA, Mr. McElgunn was Managing Analyst, Consumer Market Strategies at Stratecast Partners, a division Frost & Sullivan. He held a number of positions at Gartner Group and at Datapro/Northern Business Information. Mr. McElgunn holds a BA in Communications from Ramapo College of NJ.
